Annecy is a magnificent town with lots of history, it is also called “the Little Venice”. The town center by the Annecy Lake is full of life with its shops, restaurants and cafes. Annecy attracts tourists from all over the world especially in summer. Tourism and industry are the main financial resources of the town. Summer you can enjoy the lake and its beaches as well as the multitude of outdoor sports organised in the region for example: hiking, cycling, parascending and rollerblading. In the winter Annecy is surrounded by internationally renowned ski resorts: Megève, Courchevel, Tignes and Val d’Isére.
Only 45 minutes away from Geneva by bus, Annecy benefits from this proximity and its international population.

French Courses at IF Alpes – Annecy
With more than 20 years experience in teaching French as a foreign language, IF Alpes is a relatively small school offering personalized service and attention. Their teaching methods are adapted to an individualized approach to ensure a rapid progression. IF Alpes is a 5 minute walk from the town center.
The school has spacious and well-lit classrooms each fitted with DVD and CD players. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the building as well as an internet/computer room. Students have free access to newspapers and magazines and are free to borrow books and DVDs from the school library. A student lounge has vending machines offering sandwiches and salads, and microwave ovens are available to heat up meals brought in form the outside. There are several restaurants and snack bars next to the school.
Every month between 170 and 200 students of all ages come from 50 different countries to learn French in Annecy at IF Alpes.

IF Alpes – French Courses in Annecy
Notes: Minimum age: 18. All prices for French Courses listed below include: number of French language lessons as listed, French level assement test, study materials, student ID card offering discounts at local venues, free unlimited WI-FI access at school, end of program written evaluation and certificate of attendance.
Intensive French Courses: 20 French lessons per week (each lesson is 45 minutes long) maximum of 15 students per class. Classes may be held according to the following schedules. Schedules depend on French level, and while every effort will be made to accommodate student’s requests, a specific schedule cannot be guaranteed. Mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:20 PM or afternoons from 1:30 PM to 4:50 PM. Important: morning and afternoon schedules sometimes alternate during the week. For example: students may have morning lessons 3 days during the week, with afternoon lessons the remaining 2 days. All levels from Beginner to Advanced (High Advanced level C2 on request only).
Super Intensive French Courses – 40 French lessons per week (each lesson is 45 minutes long), maximum of 15 students per class. Classes will held according to the following schedule: Monday through Friday mornings from 9:00 AM to 12:20 PM and afternoons from 1:30 PM to 4:50 PM. Advanced Beginners to High Intermediate levels only (No Beginner or Advanced levels offered)
Private French Courses: One-to-one French lessons. 20 lessons per week (number of weekly lessons can be adjusted upon request, please contact us for pricing). These courses are tailor made solutions to suit individual specific needs and levels with an emphasis on communication within a given context such as contemporary French business practices and regulations, dealing with business documents and business communication. All levels from Beginner to Advanced. Minimum booking: 1 week.

2020 Starting Dates for all group French courses: Complete beginners must start on the following dates: 6 January / 3 February / 2 March / 30 March / 4 May / 2 June / 29 June / 3 August / 31 August / 28 September / 2 November / 30 November. ALL other levels may start EVERY MONDAY.
Holidays 2020: 1-5 January, 13 April, 1 May, 8 May, 21 May, 1 June, 14 July, 11 November. Classes lost due to Holidays are made up during the rest of the week!. The school is also closed from 21 Dec 2020 until 3 Jan 2021.
SPECIAL FRENCH COURSES in Annecy:
Private French Courses (One-to-One French Lessons): Private French lessons are available at USD 73 per lesson (10 lesson per week minimum booking), plus a school registration fee of USD 97. One-to-one French lessons can start any Monday.
French Language and Skiing: Available from Monday 6 January till Monday 2 March 2020 (beginners see starting dates below!). Combination of the Intensive French Course (20 French lessons per week) plus two ski trips during the weekend. Minimum enrollment: 2 weeks. The students study French from Monday to Friday and have 2 full days of skiing on Saturday and Sunday (trips may be cancelled due to bad weather or snow conditions!). Students will be able to ski at the biggest skiing areas of the world with 400 miles of slopes in the 3 Valleys (Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens) as well as a choice of over 110 ski resorts in Chamonix, Avoriaz, Val d’Isère and Tignes, offering over 3000 miles of trails. Students do not spend the night at the resorts. Prices include 20 French lessons per week plus transportation to the ski resort and lift passes. Ski equipment is not included but can be rented on site. Ski insurance is compulsory and can be bought at If Alpes.
2020 Starting dates: Complete beginners must start on the following dates: 6 January / 3 February / 2 March. All other levels may start any Monday during that time period.

IF Alpes – Accommodations
IF Allpes offers accommodations with selected local host families. Host families of all ages and backgrounds are available, but they all share one thing in common: their hospitality and friendliness. The school rigorously selects and trains each host family and carefully places students taking into consideration their individual preferences whenever possible. Most families are located between 10 and 30 minutes from the school. This type of accommodation is ideal for students that want to discover the French way of life and improve their conversation skills. Facilities: students will have a private single room with a bed, wardrobe, table or desk with a chair. The students share the bathroom and living area with the rest of the family. One load of laundry is included once a week.

Cultural Program – In addition to their French Courses in Annecy, the IF Alpes school offers a varied cultural program which allows students to experience French culture. Program varies during the year but it includes activities such as: sightseeing tours of the region (Annecy, Lyon, Geneva, etc.), hiking and snowshoe trips, French films, cooking lessons and food tasting, French cheese tasting, lectures and local restaurant visits as an example. Prices vary depending on activities chosen. Fees are reasonable and are payable at the school.
