Spanish Language Courses in SALAMANCA

Salamanca is called "La Dorada," the Golden City, because its buildings are made of a golden sandstone. If you approach Salamanca from Madrid, you at once see its rich historical legacy, and you will find it a most beautiful city. Alfonso IX of Castille and Leon is responsible for the city's worldwide fame: he founded the first university in Spain in Salamanca. Salamanca possesses the advantages of a big city and yet is small enough to offer the intimacy of a village. Its main square, Plaza Mayor, is the perfect meeting point. Spaniards and foreigners gather there to go to pubs or just to enjoy the sights from one of its many cafes.

Don Quijote Salamanca

The Don Quijote Spanish school is located in the center of Salamanca. It is within walking distance of all major points in the city. Aside from the classrooms, there is a library and video room on the premises, as well as a cafe that serves as the informal gathering place for socializing during breaks and before and after class. At Don Quijote, bicycles are available free of charge, if you want to take a ride around town. There is a piano and you can also learn Spanish songs by using the cassettes and cassette players provided by the school. This part of the Spanish course will enrich your vocabulary. School is open at all hours and students are free to come in after class for a chat, a cup of coffee, to use the computers, watch a Spanish movie or play the piano in the cafeteria. The teachers are all university-trained and form a team of specialists in teaching Spanish language to adult speakers of other languages. They are also the organizers and coordinators of the various cultural activities offered to the students.

This center was last inspected by Lingua Service Worldwide in October 2005.
