Ecole de Langue Francaise pour Etrangers (E.L.F.E.) This French Language school is located in a charming 18th century town house situated near the center of Paris in the 9th district (2 blocks from Place de Clichy), minutes away from the Etoile, the Champs Elysees, Invalides and the Opera. The painter Edgar Degas (1834-1917) and the writer Emile Zola (1840-1902) both lived at number 23 rue Ballu where the school is located. It is an oasis of peace where you hear the birds singing rather than the noise of traffic. E.L.F.E. was established in 1984 and is accredited by the French Ministry of Education. This upscale French school enjoys an excellent reputation because of its small class sizes and high quality instruction. The classrooms are comfortable, modern and several of them are equipped with audio visual equipment. A common room/cafeteria and an outdoor terrace during the summer provide students with peaceful areas to relax and socialize during breaks or before and after classes. The highly qualified staff provides students with personalized attention in a friendly and professional atmosphere. This exclusive French school caters mainly to professionals, executives and adult students.

Important Notes: Minimum stay: 1 week Minimum age : 18 years old. Average student age: 30-35 years of age. Prices listed below include administration fees and teaching materials.
General French Course Mini-Group --- General French 15 Hours per week. (20 French lessons @ 45min each). Maximum of 6 students per class. All levels from beginner to proficiency (see specific dates for beginners below). 1 week: USD 690; 2 weeks: USD 1,260; 3 weeks: USD 1,800; 4 weeks: USD 2,350; Extra weeks: USD 550 each.
Intensive French Course Mini-Group --- Intensive General French 30 Hours per week (40 lessons @ 45min each). Maximum of 6 students per class. All levels except beginners. 1 week: USD 1,250; 2 weeks: USD 2,360; 3 weeks: USD 3,480; 4 weeks: USD 4,550; Extra weeks: USD 1,100 each.
Combination French Course Mini-Group plus private lessons --- Combination Course General French + One-to-One. 15 hrs per week in General French course, plus 5 private French lessons to attend to the special needs of the student. All levels from beginner to proficiency (see specific dates for beginners below) 1 week: USD 1,200; 2 weeks: USD 2,290; 3 weeks: USD 3,380; 4 weeks: USD 4,425; Extra wks: USD 1,098 each.
Starting dates 2010: Beginner levels (complete and advanced beginners) may start only on the first Monday of every month. All other levels start any Monday.
Holidays 2010: 1 January, 5 April, 13 May, 24 May, 14 July, 1 November, 11 November. Classes missed due to holidays will not be made up, but lower pricing will apply to those weeks containing a holiday (please contact us for details). The school will be closed from 25 December 2010 until 2 January 2011. No group classes will be held the week of 21 December 2009, private classes will be available.

Accommodations 2010:
Host Family Stay: Single Room and Breakfast: USD 340 per week Single Room and half board: USD 500 per week
Executive Host Family: Single room with Private Bathroom and Breakfast: USD 420 per week; Single room with Private Bathroom and half board: USD 612 per week
Hotel and Apartments for rent rates are available upon request. USD 75 booking fee applies to hotel and apartment rental reservations.
Airport Transfer: is available at additional cost: USD 130 each way.
Activities: During the afternoons a teacher passionate about a subject gives a general presentation here in the school, then accompanies the students on a visit in Paris (museums, exhibitions, etc). Subjects cover: Literature, Music, Sculpture and Slang usage, Cinema, etc (for the sculpture option, a local sculptor gives a modeling lesson in her workshop). Duration: 3 1/2 hrs. Location: theoretical presentation at the school + excursion. Cost: Approx: USD 80. Museum entrance fees are paid directly paid by the students. Additional cultural courses (cooking, wine tasting, etc) are also available, see prices above).
IMPORTANT NOTE: When comparing prices with other schools, consider the small number of students per class (4-6) at ELFE, where you get more personal attention.
