Ecole de Langue Francaise pour Etrangers (E.L.F.E.) This French Language school is located in a charming 18th century town house situated near the center of Paris in the 9th district (2 blocks from Place de Clichy), minutes away from the Etoile, the Champs Elysees, Invalides and the Opera. The painter Edgar Degas (1834-1917) and the writer Emile Zola (1840-1902) both lived at number 23 rue Ballu where the school is located. It is an oasis of peace where you hear the birds singing rather than the noise of traffic. E.L.F.E. was established in 1984 and is accredited by the French Ministry of Education. This upscale French school enjoys an excellent reputation because of its small class sizes and high quality instruction. The classrooms are comfortable, modern and several of them are equipped with audio visual equipment. A common room/cafeteria and an outdoor terrace during the summer provide students with peaceful areas to relax and socialize during breaks or before and after classes. General French Course Mini-Group --- General French 15 Hours per week. (20 French lessons @ 45min each). Maximum of 6 students per class. All levels from beginner to proficiency (see specific dates for beginners below). Prices: 1 week: USD 724; 2 weeks: USD 1,314; 3 weeks: USD 1,837; 4 weeks: USD 2,405; Extra weeks: USD 538 each.
Intensive French Course Mini-Group --- Intensive General French 30 Hours per week (40 lessons @ 45min each). Maximum of 6 students per class. All levels except beginners. Prices: 1 week: USD 1,307; 2 weeks: USD 2,470; 3 weeks: USD 3,584; 4 weeks: USD 4,734; Extra weeks: USD 1,128 each.
Combination French Courses - Mini-Group plus private lessons:
Combination 5 --- Combination Course General French + One-to-One. 15 hrs per week in General French mini-group course (see above), plus 5 private French lessons to attend to the special needs of the student. All levels from beginner to proficiency (see specific dates for beginners below). Prices: 1 week: USD 1,314; 2 weeks: USD 2,494; 3 weeks: USD 3,607; 4 weeks: USD 4,764; Extra wks: USD 1,135 each.
Combination 10 --- Combination Course General French + One-to-One. 15 hrs per week in General French mini-group course (see above), plus 10 private French lessons to attend to the special needs of the student. All levels from beginner to proficiency (see specific dates for beginners below). Prices: 1 week: USD 1,859; 2 weeks: USD 3,584; 3 weeks: USD 5,242; 4 weeks: USD 6,945; Extra wks: USD 1,680 each.

Special Courses:
French Language Teacher Refresher Summer Course 1--- 1 week course - 30 hours in a mini-group (4 to 8 participants per class). High Intermediate to Advanced level required. The objective of the course is to provide teachers of French as a Foreign Language with practical ideas for the classroom, an overview of the latest teaching methods and theories and to enhance the participant's knowledge of the French language and culture. Participants receive and end of course certificate upon completion of the program. Starting dates 2012: 2 July, 9 July, 6 August or 20 August. Price 2012: 1 week: USD 1,255.
Private French Language Lesson Packages: For adults and professionals who feel that a group course is simply not suitable, those who have a limited time available or those who need to focus on specific areas of interest. Packages of 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours per week of Private French lessons are available. Minimum enrollment: 1 week. Classes may be scheduled from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:15 pm to 7:45 pm Monday to Friday, and between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm on Saturday. Starting dates: Any day, all year round (Monday to Saturday). Prices 2011 and 2012:
Private French Lessons 10: 10 hours per week. 1 week: USD 1,269; Additional weeks: USD 1,135 each. Private French Lessons 15: 15 hours per week. 1 week: USD 1,837; Additional weeks: USD 1,703 each Private French Lessons 20: 20 hours per week. 1 week: USD 2,285; Additional weeks: USD 2,151 each Private French Lessons 25: 25 hours per week. 1 week: USD 2,823; Additional weeks: USD 2,688 each Private French Lessons 30: 30 hours per week. 1 week: USD 3,271; Additional weeks: USD 3,136 each
Holidays 2012: 9 April, 1 May, 8 May, 28 May, 15 August, 1 November. Classes missed due to holidays will not be made up, but lower pricing will apply to those weeks containing a holiday (please contact us for details). The school will be closed from 24 December 2012 until 1 January 2013.

Cultural Activities: The following activities are arranged on a regular basis. Students may sign up on-site according to the weekly schedule (a minimum of 3 students participating is required for an activity to take place). Prices are approximate and provided for budgeting purposes only:
French Cuisine, 1 hour cooking demonstration course at The Ritz: USD 90. French Cuisine, 1 hour cooking course with a chef: USD 105. Wine Course, 2 hour tasting: USD 75. Excursion in Paris with a teacher, 2.5 hours: USD 40.
Accommodations 2012:
Accommodations are offered with "Standard" host families offering private rooms and breakfast or half-board (2 meals per day: breakfast and dinner), or "Executive" host families which also offer a private bathroom in addition to a private room and breakfast or half-board.
Host Family Stay: Single Room and Breakfast: USD 344 per week Single Room and half board: USD 508 per week
Executive Host Family: Single room with Private Bathroom and Breakfast: USD 448 per week; Single room with Private Bathroom and half board: USD 612 per week
For those students that wish to have more independence, Hotel and Apartments for rent rates are available upon request. USD 90 booking fee applies to hotel and apartment rental reservations made by the school. Students are welcome to make their own accommodation arrangements also, and simply enroll in the course.
Airport Transfer: is available at additional cost: USD 140 each way.
Activities: During the afternoons a teacher passionate about a subject gives a general presentation here in the school, then accompanies the students on a visit in Paris (museums, exhibitions, etc). Subjects cover: Literature, Music, Sculpture and Slang usage, Cinema, etc (for the sculpture option, a local sculptor gives a modeling lesson in her workshop). Duration: 3 1/2 hrs. Location: theoretical presentation at the school + excursion. Cost: Approx: USD 80. Museum entrance fees are paid directly by the students. Additional cultural courses (cooking, wine tasting, etc) are also available, see prices above.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When comparing prices with other schools, consider the small number of students per class (4-6) at ELFE, where you get more personal attention.
