French Language and Sports Programs for Children and Teenagers 7 to 18 years of age

 

Location

The Centre is located in the Champagne region of France, 110 km from Paris. Its 5 hectare grounds are situated on the banks of the Marne river. Champagne offers visitors many varied attractions such as Reims, Epernay, Troyes, Château-Thierry, and other famous sites. The diversity of its charming villages nestled among the vineyards never fails to win the admiration of it's visitors.

Accommodations and Facilities:

Accommodations are very spacious and very comfortable . Classrooms are large and comfortable. Dining rooms are sunny and offer a personal touch. The traditional French cuisine menus are prepared with the utmost care, religious and medical diet restrictions are observed (a dozen hors-d’œuvre are provided with each meal). Rooms from 2 to 4 people have views overlooking the grounds. Separate buildings are provided for girls and for boys. Medical help is readily available.

Academic Program

Foreign students are assigned to a French as a Second Language course, after taking a test of French proficiency (5 or 8 classes will be provided, depending on the number of students). Courses are given each morning from 9 :00 a.m. to 12 :00 p.m. (15 hrs per week total). The number of students per class is kept to a minimum (8 to 12), and children are thus provided with ideal learning conditions. Teachers participate actively in the Centre and can very closely monitor the work of individual students, provide them with special assistance, and help them with study methods and organization. A detailed scholastic report is sent to the family at the end of the session, and a certificate indicating the level of French proficiency is also provided for foreign students.

For French or French-speaking students, classes are provided from 1st to 6th grade, and basic subjects are taught (French and Math are obligatory , English or German are optional).

Sports, Relaxation, and Activities:

The Centre’s ideal location allows students to take full advantage of outdoors, and children are offered a wide range of sports daily at Troissy or Dormans, each of which is taught by a specialized instructor. Sports activities include :

Water skiing, tennis, golf, fencing, mountain biking, archery, rifle shooting, modern dance and jazz, wind-surfing, canoe-kayak, swimming-pool, martial arts, baseball, various ball type sports, badminton, ping-pong, and more!

Many non-sports activities are also provided, such as : parlor games, video-television, outdoor games, theatre and discotheque (at the Centre).

Trips and Excursions:

Educational and cultural bus trips are organized for students, who are accompanied by their teachers. These trips include : tours of local towns, castles, cathedrals, museums, and also simple relaxation and shopping. Some of scheduled sites are Paris, Reims, Epernay ... These activities are included in the fee.

Optional Excursions: EuroDisney or Asterix Park excursions are offered once during each session. Participation is optional. Additional fee applies (60 Euros per trip, must be paid in cash directly at the center!).

Transfers:

 

Transportation between Paris Charles De Gaulle airport and Troissy is provided free of charge on the first and last days of each session ONLY! (Orly airport  and or Paris Train Stations transfers have a USD 140 surcharge each way!).   Arrivals MUST be between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, departures MUST be between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.   Otherwise, an additional fee of USD 280 per child each way will be charged!!   (for Orly Airport USD 380 each way).  School staff members meet the students at train stations or airports, accompany them during the trip, and assist them with check-in and customs formalities.  IMPORTANT NOTES:  Arrivals into Beauvais airport CANNOT be arranged! 

Arrival flight/train information MUST be received 15 days prior to the start of the course!

 

PRICES 2010

2 week-Session : USD 2,950 (per child)

3 week-Session : USD 3,900 (per child)

4 week-Session : USD 5,250 (per child)

 

Starting dates 2010:

       3 week sessions:     Sunday 13 June  or   Sunday 4 July.

     2 week sessions:     Sunday 25 July  or   Sunday  8 August.

     4 week sessions:     Sunday 25 July.

Departures are always on Saturdays.

Last day of camp is 21 August 2010.

 

PLEASE NOTE: All prices subject to change due to fluctuating currency rates.

 

EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED :  Lodging and meals, courses, trips, laundry, all sports and instruction and accident insurance. No other expenses are required, except possibly pocket money, doctor fees and medicine in the event of illness. Transportation between Paris Charles De Gaulle airport and Troissy is provided free of charge on the first and last days of each session ONLY! (See "Transfers" above!)

 

REGISTRATION : (IMPORTANT NOTE: CILS' registration procedures differ from most other programs offered by Lingua Service Worldwide. Read the following sections carefully!!)

Complete the Lingua Service Application form. Enclose a USD 775 non-refundable deposit in addition to your USD 100 application fee.

 

FINAL PAYMENT : The balance is payable 32 days before the session is to begin. The total price, minus the deposit, will be refunded in the event of cancellation no later than 3 weeks before the beginning of the session. No refunds will be made for cancellation less than 3 weeks before the beginning of the session. We recommend families obtain cancellation insurance through their insurance company. No reductions in price for late arrivals or early departures.

 

ACCEPTANCE CONDITIONS : The Center only accepts girls and boys whose behavior is excellent and who live in healthy environments. The Center accepts children from all over the world and enables a very enriching and warm personal contact and exchange. Group living arrangements of this type require that the Center’s regulations be observed by everyone. Management reserves the right to expel students who do not obey the established rules. In such cases, no refunds are made. Since the health and safety of children is one of the Center’s fundamental objectives , alcohol and tobacco are not allowed. Any damage caused is to be paid by the child or his family.

 

SCHOOL OUTFIT : Total freedom of choice is allowed parents regarding their child’s school outfit but it MUST BE MARKED with the child’s name. Any clothing or linen that is not marked will not be washed. We recommend parents to include clothing and linen that are practical and easy to wash (industrial type washing machines are used). Sheets and blankets are provided. Students MUST bring their own towels. The Center cannot be held liable for student’s money and objects of value, unless they are deposited at the administration office upon arrival (" secretariat office" ). It cannot be held liable for loss or theft, or loans, gifts or sales made to other students.  Please do not allow your child to bring expensive items such as jewelry!  Mobile phones will have to remain in the director's office. Children will be allowed to use them only from 2.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. It is not advised to let children under 12 to have a mobile phone.
