Alicante, with a population of approximately 284,000, is situated in the heart of "La Costa Blanca" and has become a famous international winter tourist center. However, its beautiful beaches --- Javea, Calpe, Altea, Benidorm and San Juan --- can be enjoyed year round. These beaches are particularly popular at the end of June when the local Festival of Bonfires is celebrated. All kinds of water sports are available along the coast. If you would like to see how the Spaniards mingle with the international crowd, this is the place to be!

Colegio de España

Colegio de España has locations in Salamanca and Alicante. This provides the student with the opportunity to learn Spanish at either school while following the same method. Each region has its own special characteristics which offer a window into the richness of the country. Colegio de España was founded in 1973 in Salamanca as a study center whose prime goal is to teach Spanish language and culture to foreign students. It has intensive summer courses as well as year-round programs in Spanish literature, art, history, geography, commercial Spanish, economics, music, anthropology and translation. Colegio de España in Alicante and Salamanca are both located in the city center.

Activities

In addition to regular activities provided by the school, the following are available as optional lessons at private centers: dancing lessons, horseback riding, sailing (15 day course), wind surfing. The golf course is about 20 miles away (just for playing, no lessons).
