French Courses at C.L.E.

C.L.E. was founded in 1985, as an independent institute for French studies, and its courses are accredited by the French Ministry of Education. The C.L.E. French Language School is located in the heart of the historical, picturesque city. French classes are conducted in a magnificently renovated 18th century building, with large, comfortable rooms. Near the school you will find a square surrounded by 15th century homes, restaurants and cafes.

French Language Courses 2010:

Intensive French Course - 7 students max. per class  - 26 French  lessons per week (each lesson 45 minutes):

     2 weeks: USD 1,090;   3 weeks: USD 1,500;   4 weeks: USD 1,950;   Extra weeks: USD 475;    LONG TERM: 12 wks: USD 5,300.

One-to-One French Lessons:  Start any  Monday of the year. 

     15 French lessons per week: USD 1,525 per week;     20 French lessons per week: USD 2,000 per week;     25 French lessons per week: USD 2,500 per week.

Starting Dates 2010:   Complete beginners may only start only on the following dates. All others may start any Monday. 

                                                                       Dates listed are ARRIVAL dates, courses start on Monday.

Long Term 12 week course starts on 3 January, 28 March, 4 July or 26 September 2010. 

Holidays 2009:   No classes will be held on the following holidays: : 5 April, 13 May, 24 May, 14 July, 1 November, 11 November. The school is closed between 18 December 2010 and 3 January 2011.

Accommodations 2010:

Host Family: (Private room, half board):      1 week: USD 325;   Additional weeks: USD 255 each.

Apartments:  Fully equipped and comfortable studio or one-bedroom apartment (telephone, television, etc.). Weekly maid and linen service is included. Laundry facilities are also available. All studios and apartments are located in the centre of Tours within walking distance of CLE.  

     Furnished studio apartments:  USD 1,550 per month;      One Bedroom apartments:  USD 2,200 per month.

Bed & Breakfast in a Chateau:  (outside of town!) Single room, private bathroom.      1 week: USD 1,175;   Additional weeks: USD 1,100.

Hotels also available upon request.   Prices vary depending on size and location.

Activities

A tour is provided for students arriving at the beginning of a regular session, including a free guided tour of the city, its monuments and historical restorations. In addition, CLE organizes weekly visits to the famous chateaux of the Loire Valley: Chambord, Chenonceau, Azay-le-Rideau, etc. Other visits include Chinon, where Joan of Arc recognized the future king of France, Charles VII, the Abbey of Fontevraud, as well as the homes of Ronsard, Balzac, and Leonardo da Vinci. There will be opportunities to taste the famous wines of Vouvray, Montlouis, Bourgueil and Chinon in local cellars. Visits are also organized to Versailles, Mont-Saint-Michel, Chartes Cathedral and La Rochelle. (Excursions, sports and evenings out are not included in the course fees.)
