Biarritz also provides a perfect environment for water-sport lovers, its long sandy beaches and incredible waves attract surfers from all over the world ! Biarritz is situated at the foot of the Pyrenees mountains in the heart of the Basque region, which extends into Spain. A region of strong traditions and rich culture that has preserved a certain quality of life in one of the most beautiful regions of France.  Originally a quaint fishing village, until the end of 19th century when Napoleon III and the empress Eugenie fell in love with the regions natural beauty, Biarritz rapidly became a fashionable, refined sea side resort.
This era brought a prestigious clientele to the town and hence considerably developed its architecture, elegant buildings, casinos and palaces that today form the towns reputation.

In 1957, Biarritz welcomed its first surfers from the European continent and today has become a renowned "surfers paradise" thanks to its long sandy beaches and mild climate all year round.

Learn French at BLS / Institut Parisien

B.L.S./ Institut Parisien is an International French School with its headquarters  located in Bordeaux.  In a very friendly but highly professional atmosphere, BLS welcomes students from all over the world for intensive full immersion French courses. They offer a wide range of courses to meet most needs, adapted around each student's requirements. The teaching methods are straight forward, but at the same time flexible and interactive. Essentially all the French lessons incorporate various aspects of the French language to ensure a good balance between conversation, grammar, reading, listening and writing.    BLS is registered with the Rectorate of Bordeaux (French Ministry of Education) and is a member of SOUFFLE (the only quality control organization for French language schools and universities in France).  In 2003 they opened a new center in Biarritz, ideally located close to the Biarritz town center (20 minutes by foot, 10 minutes by bike), train station and airport.  In a modern and spacious building dating from the 70's, the French language school offers 15 bright, air conditioned classrooms for groups of 2 to 12 participants. An internet and self study room is also at students' disposal throughout class hours.

All French course prices include:  Number of lessons listed under each course option, all teaching material, a practical guide to the city, a guided city visit, a French film each week at BLS, 24/7 assistance in the event of emergency, free station/airport transfer on arrival for students with host family accommodation, and a BLS course completion certificate.

BLS offers several French Language Course Options:

Standard French Course - Group 8 --- Beginner to Advanced levels. Minimum enrollment: 2 weeks. Maximum of 8 students per class.  Minimum age: 16.  20 French Lessons a week during the morning.  (1 lesson = 45 minutes)

          Prices 2012:  2 weeks: USD 933;   3 weeks: USD 1,262;   4 weeks: USD 1,591;   Extra weeks: USD 329 each.      Long Term: 12 weeks-USD 3,823.

Intensive French Course - Group 8 (maximum class size may be increased to 14 during high season) --- Low Intermediate to Advanced levels. Minimum enrollment: 2 weeks. Maximum of 8 students per class.  26 French Lessons a week: 20 lessons of Standard French Course in the mornings with 6 additional conversation lessons per week in the afternoons.

          Prices 2012: 2 weeks: USD 993;   3 weeks: USD 1,404;   4 weeks: USD 1,815;   Extra weeks: USD 411  each.

Starting Dates 2012: Full Beginners must start on the following dates. All other levels may start any Monday. Long Term courses (all levels) may only start on the following date also.   NOTE:  School in Biarritz will be open from 30 April 2012 to 28 September 2012 ONLY!.

Holidays 2012:  1 May, 8 May, 17 May, 27 May, 14 July, 15 August.  The school is closed from 29 September 2012 until 30 April 2013.

Other courses offered:

Private French lessons:  available all year round for all levels.  Private lessons may start any Monday between 30 April and 24 September. Prices 2012:  USD 90 per lesson (Additional registration fee of USD 130 applies. Additional registration fee is waived when private classes are taken in conjunction with any other group course).

French and Surfing: Combination of Standard French Course (20 French lessons in the morning) plus 1 and half hours of Surfing lessons each day from Monday to Friday. Minimum enrollment: 2 weeks.  Prices 2012:  2 weeks: USD 1,591;  3 weeks: USD 2,240;  4 weeks: USD 2,890;  each additional week: USD 650 per week.   Starting dates 2012: full beginners must start on the dates listed above, all other levels may start any Monday.

French and Golf:   Combination of Standard French Course (20 French lessons in the morning) plus 2 hours of Golf lessons each day from Monday to Friday. Minimum enrollment: 2 weeks.  Prices 2012:  2 weeks: USD 2,203;  3 weeks: USD 3,233;  4 weeks: USD 4,264;  each additional week: USD 1,031 per week.   Starting dates 2012: full beginners must start on the dates listed above, all other levels may start any Monday.  

Accommodations 2011 and 2012:

BLS offers accommodations with selected local host families. Host families of all ages and backgrounds are available, but they all share one thing in common: their hospitality and friendliness. The school rigorously selects and trains each host family and carefully places students taking into consideration their individual preferences whenever possible. Most families are located between 5 and 30 minutes from the school. Host families will meet students at the airport or train station upon arrival at no additional cost (arrival travel information must be provided 15 days prior to arrival in order to guarantee the airport/train station transfer).   Student residences and hotels are also available upon request.
