Spanish Courses at SOLEXICO, Puerto Vallarta

Solexico Spanish Language and Cultural Centers was founded in 1997. They now have three campuses in México: Soléxico Playa del Carmen, Soléxico Oaxaca and Solexico Puerto Vallarta. Their mission is to provide the best quality instruction of Spanish as a Second Language, and to offer students a meaningful and unforgettable cultural experience. One thing that sets Soléxico apart is the individual attention each student receives. The teachers, staff and host families provide around the clock attention, creating a family environment for every student.

Soléxico Language and Cultural Centers provide students with the best opportunity to learn Spanish in a short period of time while being immersed in the Mexican culture. The staff of professional Mexican teachers and effective teaching methods, combined with a friendly approach to teaching Spanish, helps maximize the student’s learning capabilities and makes learning a truly enjoyable experience.

Soléxico is a member of several international organizations, such as: IALC, FIYTO and ALTO, as well as Mexican Association of Spanish Language Institutes, CANACO and SEP in Mexico.

Solexico Puerto Vallarta is located two blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the heart of downtown. Surrounded by Vallarta’s beautiful colonial buildings and charming city streets, our campus is also near restaurants, cafes, stores and nightspots. Our building shows off the typical architecture of Puerto Vallarta and, like our other campuses, has a large café in a nice open terrace that is used for salsa classes, fiestas and as the meeting point for students during the breaks.

Solexico’s offices and classrooms are decorated in the same Vallarta style as the exterior. There is also a conference room in which movies in Spanish and cultural lectures will be given. An internet area and wireless connection are also available at the center.

Solexico offers 2 additional destinations for Spanish Language courses in Mexico: Solexico Playa del Carmen and Solexico Oaxaca. Students can combine courses at any of all three locations.

Spanish Language Programs 2008:

Standard Group Spanish Course: 25 Spanish Lessons per week. This program consists of small group Spanish classes with a maximum of 5 students per class. Courses are held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and are composed of three hours of Spanish grammar and two hours of lectures and/or Spanish conversation classes. Prices: 1 week USD 289. 2 weeks: USD 498. 3 weeks: USD 707. 4 weeks: USD 902. 6 weeks: USD 1292. 8 weeks: USD 1666. 12 weeks: USD 2382.

Standard "Holiday" Group Spanish Course: 15 Spanish Lessons per week. Same as above but on a lighter schedule of only 15 Spanish lessons per week. Perfect for those students that want to learn Spanish at a leisurely pace and have lots of time to enjoy Playa del Carmen and the surrounding area. Individual Spanish Course -- This is an accelerated, personalized program that consists of 3 hours of private Spanish lessons daily and 2 hours of Spanish conversation and lectures in groups of no more than 5 students per class. The private Spanish lessons are given in the afternoon. Prices: 1 week : USD 478, 2 weeks: USD 876, 3 weeks: USD 1274, 4 weeks: USD 1644. Executive Spanish Course -- Students in the Executive Spanish Program receive three hours of intensive Spanish one on one instruction in addition to the five-hour course of our Regular Spanish Program. In addition to the eight hours of classes, an executive lounge, executive assistant services, and a virtual office are provided to meet the needs of these students. Private lectures with professionals in the student’s fields of interest can be arranged for an additional charge per hour of lecture. Private Spanish lessons -- Private Spanish lessons are also available at USD 21 per hour. Additional registration fee of USD 80 and 10 lesson per week minimum apply for students enrolling in private lessons exclusively. Additional fee and weekly minimum do not apply to students enrolled in any of the group programs that wish to add one-to-one lessons.

Starting Dates 2008:

Courses begin every Monday year-round.

Holidays 2008: No classes will be held on the following days. Classes missed due to holidays are not made up. 1 Jan, 5 Feb, 19 March, 6 April, 1 May, 16 Sep, 2 Nov, 19 Nov and 25 Dec.

Accommodations 2008:

Solexico’s students have several housing options. In our homestay program, carefully selected families provide a home away from home. This gives students the opportunity to further appreciate the beauty of Mexico and its people. Private accommodations such as apartments, condominiums, houses and hotel rooms are also available. If students would like for us to organize these independent housing options, a description of what they are looking, including a price range, the desired number of bedrooms, dates of the students’ housing, desired proximity to the school and/or the beach, and any specific requests, will help us find the best place for you. We will do everything possible to meet the student’s needs and will send options to the student. Prices of such accommodations vary and do not include meals.

Host Family - Stay with a Mexican family in Puerto Vallarta:

Host Family, half Board (2 meals per day), single room : $27 USD per day.
Host Family, breakfast only, single room: $24 USD per day.

Host Family, half Board (2 meals per day), double room : $24 USD per person/day.
Host Family, breakfast only, double room: $20 USD per person/day.

NOTE: Double rooms can only be booked by 2 students traveling together.

Alternate accommodations such as Posadas and Hotels available upon request. Prices vary depending on property rating, location, season and length of stay.

Airport transfers: Upon arrival to Puerto Vallarta's international airport, taxis and airport transfers are readily available. A taxi from the airport to the hostfamily‘s home or hotel will cost around $15 USD. Sometimes, the host families will pick the students up at the airport. We will confirm whether the family will meet the student at the airport upon confirmation of homestay.

Activities: (Excursions and activities are optional ant NOT included in academic fees).

There are innumerable recreational activities available to you in Puerto Vallarta, such as walking, hiking scuba diving, snorkeling, bird watching, canopy, motorcycling, windsurfing, kite surfing, and horseback riding. Solexico can help you create the perfect recreational package to compliment your Spanish classes and make this a truly unique experience.

Excursions:

Students enjoy a great variety of cultural and recreational activities.

Puerto Vallarta has the largest bay in Mexico and attracts fishermen from all over the world. Fishing tours are available year round.

During the winter one can enjoy a once in a lifetime experience while watching whales and dolphins in their natural environments. There is also a large aquarium where one can see all types of marine life.

Students can enjoy trips to nearby villages dating back to the 17 and 1800’s situated in the beautiful tropical mountains of the Sierra.

Two day excursions:

In two days, students can enjoy the impressive and traditional city of Guadalajara and stop in the town of Tequila to learn how Mexico's most famous drink is made.
